The Mental Health Handbook July 13, 2002 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is a 'must have' for all professionals dealing with the new generation of pupils. All teachers are aware of how the mental health of children is affected by a spectrum of external factors, impacting on development and learning. This handbook (and itis exactly that) clearly lists the the signs, symptoms and characteristics of a whole range of childhood mental health problems. It offers anecdotal examples and guides the reader to possible solutions / treatments. The glory of this book is the easy accessibility of vital information, it has a 'thumb through' approach for the busy teacher. It acknowledges the importance of issues from bullying through to schizophrenia and offers, sound, practical advice on how to help and support the child. An excellent resource for any school who values its pupils and believes in their mental well - being.
