GREAT BOOK! October 10, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I brought this book after a friend recommended it, I have read many similar books but found this to be one of the best of its kind. The success of the book is simple. Fox-pitt chooses not to focus on the horses misgivings, (I find books that do this tend to become overly professional and specialist for the averagely minded rider.) Instead he focuses on the key faults of the rider, most of these faults are applicable to many riders and I personally found that by changing such small points in my approach to riding, my young horse subsequently went much more correctly. Moreover I found the book very digestable, it contained relatively little text, but consisted mainly of step-by-step pictures which showed both correct and incorrect methods, in which the rider's faults became very obvious even to the untrained eye and the accompanying captions removed all doubts unto the riders error. A fantastic book, for any rider with a remote interest in cross-country riding, or eventing.
