Excellent introduction to rough and smooth Green snakes November 4, 2004
This sixty-four page short book is filled with all the information needed to successfully house, maintain and breed these Opheodrys species. It covers both the rough and smooth green snakes. W. P. Mara excels at detailing their housing, environmental and unusual amongst snakes' dietary requirements. These animals being some of the few snakes that eat primarily insects, along with caterpillars and mealworms. They tend to lend themselves to a naturalistic set up and are excellent display animals. Owing to their ease of care, they make an equally good pet snake for the beginner or more experienced herpetoculturist. It's these characteristics that are making this an ever more popular snake for hobbyists to keep.
