I personally thought this book was ideal for the beginner looking for information about a wide variety of snakes. It is well presented and easy to comprehend. It does not go into great detail, but gives a breif synopsis to many different family groups. It encourages the reader to research further into their preferential family group. For the reader who wants an overview, this is ideal. There are many detailed photograhph with illustrations, along with maps of geological distributions, which makes for a splendid read
