An excellent guide for those who are new to personnel responsibilities, or for employers who want to review their personnel practices. It is the course book for the CIPD's Certificate in Personnel Practice Course.Anyone who wants a good working knowledge of personnel management will find this book meets their needs.

This book is very user friendly and very comprehensive. The book begins with an introductory chapter which talks the reader through each individual chapter and the thinking behind each chapter. From Corporate Law to Training & Development, this book is ideal for the beginner in HRM and/or Personnel. I read this book as a reading background to a Post Graduate Diploma course. I found it covered everything there is to know regarding HR work. It follows through with excellent references to industry and gives the reader excellent links to follow up on particular sections. A first class, comprehensive book ideal for the HR beginner!
