There are so many books out there it's easy not to know where to start. This book is great, it sets every thing out clearly, is easy to read & encouraging. Would definitely recommend it.
Run for Life(The Real Woman's Guide to Running)by Sam Murphy April 5, 2003 71 out of 72 found this review helpful
I found this book really inspiring - not at all intimidating. As a woman of 64 and an addicted walker, I thought it was a bit too late to start running. Not at all. After reading 'First steps - up and running in 7 weeks' I couldn't wait to get out there and get started. I was especially interested in the bit 'Walking isn't a crime' and have started by mixing walking and running for periods of 20 mins. This book has everything one could possibly want to know about running. It is extremely well-written and the photography is excellent too. A MUST for anyone at all interested in running.
Run for Life - great book for the novice runner March 13, 2003 71 out of 73 found this review helpful
Sam Murphy's Run for Life is a comprehensive book about running with the focus firmly placed on running with a woman's point of view. She manages to cover practically all aspects of running from choosing your shoes to training for a marathon. She particularly does a great job explaining the scientifics behind running, nutrition etc. in a language which is understandable to all. A well written and useful book - perhaps more so for the beginner than the runner who has been going for years. Great for guidance and inspiration - well worth a read.
