4 out of 5 stars Great for corn keepers everywhere   January 3, 2005

This book contains everything anyone who owns a corn snake could possible need to know about these wonderful snakes. It really is a must have for people who owns corns, I have not read a book on corn snakes as helpful as this. It contains information on the conditions you must keep your snake in, feeding tips - how much a corn should eat and many solutions for problem feeders, common illnesses and parasites and ways to treat them at home, all colour morphs with full colour pictures of them and how the morphs were attained, the background of the corn snake and much more. The reason I knocked a star off was because of its lack of readability for younger people and beginners. I thought it was a little heavy for beginners with too much information to digest at once. I suggest getting a more basic book before getting a corn snake then buying this book once you have had your corn for a little while. The language used would be too complex for younger people so I don't recommend it for children. But for people who own a corn snake already definitely buy now if you don't already have it, no corn owner is complete without this book!

3 out of 5 stars Rather Heavy   October 21, 2004

No doubt this is a good book, but for someone thinking of buying their first snake (and let's not forget the corn snake is a beginners' snake) it really is a bit too much to digest. I would recommend beginners to get this book by all means, but buy and read something a bit more basic first. The general language is also a bit too heavy compared to other books I've read. My 9 year old found this book tiresome to understand but had no problem with a dozen other herp books written at adult level.

This book is extreamly informative with plenty of deatale from every aspect of owning a corn snake from chosing what type and coulor morph to but to housing requirments through to breeding and how to minipulate the different morphs available. it also gives good history of the corn and how to tell if anything is wrong and the possible diagnosis of an ilness and what to do about it. Highly recomended and can't wait for vilume 2 later this year or early next year.

I am a beginner herper and this book has helped me immensely with my first corn snake. Of course I already knew most of the husbandry techniques before I purchased the book (and the snake for that matter) but htis book helped to refine them.
One thing it doesn't go into though is general behaviour and I have had to ask around the internet to recieve answers.
If you're interested in keeping corn snakes or have one or two already then this book is a must-have.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Corn Snake Related Book About....   May 5, 2003

This book is a MUST for every corn owner. It features EVERYTHING you will need to know about keeping cornsnakes, and is very interesting to read. It includes;

General Inofrmation (Heating, lighting, cageing requirements ect...)

Breeding (Hibernation, egg laying, incubating ect...)

Diseases & Disorders (Ticks, mites, Respiratory infections ect....)

Colour & Patern Variation (LOTS of colour photographs)

Each Chapter is very in depth and quite easy to understand. The book is 127 pages long, and includes lots of colour photos of cornsnakes, and photos about the above topics. This book is written by two of the biggest Cornsnake breeders in the USA, so they know what they are talking about and the information written in the bok is very useful, and makes sense.

I have read this book lots of times and found new things out each time i have read it, and am still finding new things out not and i have had my cornsnake for around 3 years.

In my opinion this book is A MUST HAVE for every cornsnake keeper, wether they be begginers, or experianced keepers, this book has helped me and a lot of other cornsnake owners
