Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Stunning (in part) & moving   August 26, 2008

Really a beautiful book, excellent reproduction - a very high quality book but don't expect only stunning images of nature and tribes, there are also very moving pictures of real African anquish and hardship - such honesty and emotion you just think how was he there to capture that moment. Highly recommend it.

Is there a better photojournalist than Sebastiao Salgado? On the evidence of this book, I doubt it. If anyone ever doubts the power of a static image to convey everything it means to be human, pick up 'Africa' and prepare to be humbled. This man uses light in the same way that a Renaissance painter does - his compositions are of outstanding tecnical ability, and everything about every photo sceams 'genius'.

The only coffee table book you'll ever need (get a big table though, the book is huge!)
