| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review Cecelia Ahern's debut novel, PS, I Love You, follows the engaging, witty and occasionally sappy reawakening of Holly, a young Irish widow who must put her life back together after she loses her husband Gerry to a brain tumour. Ahern, the twentysomething daughter of Ireland's Prime Minister, has discovered a clever and original twist to the Moving On After Death concept made famous by novelists and screenwriters alike--Gerry has left Holly a series of letters designed to help her face the year ahead and carry on with her life. As the novel takes readers through the seasons (and through Gerry's monthly directives), we watch as Holly finds a new job, takes a holiday to Spain with her girlfriends, and sorts through her beloved husband's belongings. Accompanying Holly throughout the healing process is a cast of friends and family members who add as much to the novel's success as Holly's own tale of survival. In fact, it is these supporting characters' mini-dramas that make PS, I Love You more than just another superficial tearjerker with the obligatory episode at a karaoke bar. Ahern shows real talent for capturing the essence of an interaction between friends and foes alike; even if Holly's circle of friends does resemble the gang from Bridget Jones a bit too neatly to ignore (her best friend is even called Sharon). While her style can be at times repetitive and her delivery is occasionally amateurish, Ahern deserves credit for a spirited first effort. If PS, I Love You is any indication of this author's talent, readers have much to look forward to as Ahern matures as a novelist and a storyteller. --Gisele Toueg, Amazon.com

Literally one of the worst books I've ever read November 26, 2008 I bought this book one wet afternoon when i fancied a light, heart-warming read with a big piece of chocolate and a cup of tea. It wasn't even suitable for that.
The novel is very poorly written, it's as if a 12year old is writing, the characters, in particular Holly, the main character, are silly, weak and mainly 2 dimensional. The narrative flows badly, we are treated to immature lengthy descriptions of hairstyles and outfits (much in the way a 12 year old girl might write) and character suffers in favour of cliche and awkward dialogue. A lot of 'he said' and 'she said' all over the place.
It's a shame, as the idea is a nice one, for chick lit, but the author fails to maximize the potential of her original idea, and the whole thing falls flat on it's face. It is never funny, but tries painfully hard to be, in vain effort to show a 'typical' girl, and her 'typical' friends and family overcoming life's traumas. It didn't touch me, I felt nothing for Holly and found her grief unbelievable in the way it panned out. The author obviously has a my-little-pony kind of mindset, as it seems all her novels are similarly immature and saccharine, without any truth. I wouldn't mind if they had something of the fairy tale and magic about them, but they don't.
Really, just utter rubbish.
Great! November 24, 2008 I read this book ages ago now, but when I did read it it was great. It is quite an emotional read and I did cry on some parts. The reason why I gave it four stars though is only because I didn't like the way it ended!
Brilliant November 7, 2008 I thought this book was amazing I cried the whole way through it touches your heart! 10 OUT OF 10
Very poorly written October 25, 2008 When I bought this book, I had no idea who the authors father or brother-in-law etc were and I have no axe to grind but it is soo badly written that I simply cannot recommend it. A true example of a bad author ruining a great idea. Terrible.
PS I Love you October 20, 2008 This book is fab I loved it! You ll laugh out loud one minute and cry the next! Great book
