Amazon.co.uk Review Freya North has a startling talent to amuse, and in Polly that talent--first spotted in the divine Chloe and Sally --is given free and unfettered reign, as she recounts the story of her latest heroine and her search for truth, love and fulfilment. When Polly heads off to Vermont leaving her flat in Belsize Park, her fat cat Buster and her yummy boyfriend Max in the hands of Jen Carter, her long-legged teacher's exchange partner for the year, you just know that things are going to go wrong. But clever old North manages to keep the suspense building alongside the lust, as Polly's life and beliefs are unravelled before your very eyes, and by using the very smart and sneaky technique of turning the reader into the narrator, the questions that are on the tip of everyone's tongue (as opposed to Chip Jonson, the school athletic trainer, who spends quite a lot of time on the tip of Polly's tongue) are fully dealt with. Saucy, sexy and sassy, with some of the horniest, to-die-for sex scenes around, Polly is gem of a book and will appeal to the old romantic hidden in every girl. Read it in the bath, read it in bed, read it on the train or read it on the beach. Just read it and enjoy.--Susan Harrison

This was really not very good August 20, 2003 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I'm sure it's a taste thing, rather than a reflection of Freya North's writing skills, but I thought this book was rubbish. it annoyed me intensley. I'm writing this just to add an opposing view to the ones already written. I like 'girley' fiction, often it's really enjoyable, but the tone of this book was awful - and I do think badly written. So please be warned, you may intesley deslike this and run fast ever time you come accross any other of her books!
Irritating October 29, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As other reviewers commented, Polly really is in irritating "heroine", babyish and full of little girl mannerisms that begin to jar after a few pages. While with Chloe & Sally (both empathetic characters) the author's presence & comments were entertaining, with this book they quickly became intrusive. What really annoyed me was that Polly never confessed her affair with Chip, & the blame of the break-up fell on Max. I couldn't wait for them to skip off into the sunset together & I hope they don't hurry back.
Superb January 11, 2002 Well she's done it again! This is the third book by Fryea North I have read, and I loved this as much as Sally and Chloe. As with her other books it roused many emotions for me I felt deeply sorry for Polly in parts and also felt some things served her right. I have feel that some of these reviews have been a rather harsh. I couldn't put it down for more than 10 minutes before having to pick it up again.
Good, mellow, enjoyable read, not gripping, just relaxing. August 1, 2001 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although the main characters themselves, Polly & Max, were interesting characters; what really made the book stand out for me was the supporting cast, Max's brother & Polly's bestfriend in England. Not much was written about their relationship but the small tantalising paragraphs about them made me laugh as well as just making me smile. I enjoyed this book but I found the heroine lacking somewhat. I much preferred Chloe from Chloe, also by Freya North. This book isn't something to really get into but more of a read when you don't have anything else to do type of book.
FANDABIDOZIE! April 12, 2001 I'm surprised that this book is as unpopular as it is!I loved it (one of my favourite Freya North books)and couldn't put it down. I have also read Sally and Chloe (did anyone else appreciate the clever twist with CHloe?) which were fab too. But i disliked Cat very much! Buy for an easy read, a few laughs and tears.
