OK if you're not bothered about stories being believable September 21, 2008 It was OK. It took me 4 weeks to read because I wasn't that bothered - it was easy to put down. It's an interesting, original idea for a story, which I liked, but I wasn't taken in by the characters. I never quite decided whether I liked Chloe or found her too airy-fairy and would be irritating in real life. (actually, I think I've just decided.) Towards the end I just wanted to get it finished so I could read something else. I didn't dislike it; I wanted to find out what happened in the end, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.
An inspiring journey November 10, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
An amusing and touching tale of self discovery that stayed with me long after I reached the end. This is the first of Freya North's novels that I've read, and though not usually a chick lit fan, I will definitely be reading more from her.

Just one Word FANTASTIC!!Freya North is a gifted writer and i would challange anyone to read this book and not fall in love with it!! Aslo if you loved this book, you should read all the others - also well worth a read!!
Not as predictable as you might think January 16, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Please do not pick up Chloe expecting the typical chick-lit fare. Whilst it is undoubtedly predictable in places, Freya North's unique style and brilliantly descriptive prose lift this novel above the average. What also makes Chloe so compelling is the immensely likeable characters and the journey that our heroine undertakes - both literally and metaphorically. By the end of the book I felt I had travelled alongside Chloe, too! Nice touch linking Sally (the previous North heroine) into the story as well. Presuming that you have already read Sally that is...
On of my favourites February 20, 2003 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have read all of Freya North's books, and still think that this is the best. The basic premise is unlike any other book I have ever come across, and North exploits its potential to the full. Chloe travels round the United Kingdom following instructions from her late godmother, and finds a home, a task and a man in each of the four countries, all of them very different. The book is light-hearted and quick moving, and leaves the reader with the feeling that there is a perfect place for everybody... or perhaps even one for every season!
