5 out of 5 stars A must have for every cookbook lover and everyone else   August 11, 2008
I've really got a lot of cookery books, since I collect them and so it gets harder to find something new that really makes you completely satisfied and happy - but this book did it immediately! It's not only extremely beautifully done - practically all the recipes look and sound great and those I already tried were delicious and also easy to prepare. I also like the fact that you really find something in this book for every mood you might be in (honestly - how often did you want to cook and then you didn't, because your mood somehow changed? The chapter "In the Mood for Being Lazy" takes care of that). There's even a chapter for those of us who are trying to loose some weight (and still want or have to entertain). The book is divided into six chapters: "In the Mood for Being Healthy" ,"In the Mood for Something Naughty but Nice", "In the Mood for Some Comfort", "In the Mood for Being Lazy", " In the Mood for Being Extravagant" and "In the Mood for Being Romantic", which all contain really tempting recipes, some of them even perfect for your lunchbox. I took along the Cranberry and Orange Breakfast Muffins and they tasted great, even on the third day (stored properly, of course). The only thing I could say against the book is that men probably won't like the colours - lots of pink and pastels (very pretty!), don't care, just give it to your best friend, sister, .... Buy it, you'll love it as it's also great to read!

5 out of 5 stars In the Mood for Food - Absolutely!!   July 25, 2008
I have to agree with all of the other reviewers - this book is everything they say - and more!!

Recipes are well set out, thoughtfully presented in 'moods' - particularly helpful were the lazy and naughty but nice moods!! There is also a section dedicated to feeling less than well (and hungover!!). I buy a lot of cookery books and I have to be honest it is rare that I can read through a book and be enthusiastic about so many recipes. I do find that there tends to be a repeat in themes through many books but this book has many new and different takes on food.

One further praise - this book is similar to Nigella Lawson in that you need a few ingredients and it is straight forward to make. It is wearing thin now how 'faffy' cooks can be when dictating the method of a recipe, it almost seems they need to validate their ability as a cook/chef by making the recipe as complex as possible. This is not so with Jo Pratt. Straighforward with fantastic results!!!

5 out of 5 stars The best recipe book I have ever bought   June 27, 2008
Bought this book after a friend recommended it.
This book is awesome, beautifully laid out wit gorgeous recipes. The recipes are made with "sensible" ingredients that you will already have in the cupboard. If you only buy one recipe book, make it this one!

5 out of 5 stars Love this book!   April 8, 2008
Fab recipes, interestingly arranged. Gorgeous photos. Good as bedtime reading too (though makes you hungry!). Have loads of cookbooks, but this one is definitely my number one favourite. She's created simple, down-to-earth recipes for normal people - the recipes actually work, and there's none of the pretentious celebrity chef about this book.

Can't recommend this one highly enough - buy it today!

5 out of 5 stars Even the kids like it!   March 8, 2008
This has got to be one of the more inspirational cookbooks of the year.Easy to follow, delectible recipes,a great read. My kids adored the Oat slices and the Orange and Cranberry Muffins. I am going to make the White Choc and Baileys Cheesecake soon.If you like cooking, you'll LOVE this book.
