The section on birth is the best I've read! January 31, 1999 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Though there are plenty of other books with more information on your pregnancy, this book is by far the best childbirth guide and preparation I've yet to come across. Wonderful tips to follow in readying yourself for birth.
Fantastic September 25, 1998 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For the most part, pregnancy books are written for and read by women, but if you're a caring father (or father-to-be) that wants to be involved with Mom and the baby, this is an outstanding book to read and refer to. It gives the fairest and most complete descriptions of the myriad medical options available to women before and during childbirth. It never surrenders the idea that individual differences or preferences may make some decisions right for one person, but not right for another. It portrays pregnancy as a natural and healthful (but challenging) condition, not as an abnormality. It is the best of the many books available.Penny has written other books, including The Birth Partner, which are also helpful and informative for Dads. They are uniformly excellent.
A Great Resource for Expectant Moms July 8, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was my primary resource during my first pregnancy. It is very detailed but easy to understand. I would recommend it to anyone who is expecting, or partners of those expecting.
Excellent, used by us as text for childbirth classes! July 8, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a comprehensive, well written book, which is used at the hospital where I work as text for our Community Education Childbirth classes. I am even trying to find the book in Spanish, because it is so useful to us! The price is right, too.
Very organized, helpful tables, great reference May 5, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was my primary reference during pregnancy. All of my possible choices and outcomes are listed in organized tables. Invaluable when writing a birth plan. All childbirth procedures are described with pros and cons. Everything explained well - they treat the reader like an intelligent person who wants to understand the whole process and make intelligent choices. Highly recommended.
