3 out of 5 stars So-so   April 12, 2008
Obelix drinks the magic potion, and turns into stone. The druid tries to make an antidote, which instead turns Obelix into a child. He then has to go to Atlantis in hope of finding a cure. Meanwhile, a ship full of mutineers visit the village.

This is one of the newest Asterix adventures. Uderzo has created some pretty good adventures even after Goschinny's death, and here is another interesting premise and it almost works. It's entertaining, but the resolution is something of a letdown. Recommended for fans. New Asterix readers might want to start with another book.

5 out of 5 stars Ever wondered what would happen if Obelix drank magic potion   October 28, 2000

The mystery is finally over. We find out what actually happens when Obelix finally gets to taste Getafix's magic potion. The result is not a pretty sight.

This is yet another classic from Goscinny and Uderzo. The story is of high adventure which takes in Gaul, Rome and legendary islands of Atlantis. There are the usual Gaul's, Romans and a guest appearance by Kirk Douglas as Spartakis a Greek slave. The pictures lovingly drawn as ever and the detail is immense. The saga of Asterix and Obelix seems to go on for ever and long may it do so.

5 out of 5 stars Another masterpiece from Goscinny and Uderzo   October 1, 2000

A very funny book in which Obelix finally drinks the magic potion and is suddenly turned into GRANITE. The druid Getafix makes a potion to try and cure him but somehow makes a mistake. True Obelix is no longer granite but when he awakes from his stony slumber Obelix finds he's no longer the ginormous Gaul he used to be but now is a tiny gaul that cannot even manage three boars at a time. Then the romans capture mini Obelix as hostage and our brave hero Asterix sets out to rescue his best friend.
