3 out of 5 stars Be aware...   March 13, 2006

Not a bad book, but I wish I had known that this is about the American rather than the English cocker spaniel. Beautiful pictures, but all of American cockers! They are a distinctly different breed, so be aware of this when buying this book.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who's recently added a lively cocker puppy to their family. It has plenty of helpful advice on how to cope with the most difficult period and for later on too! Excellent!

5 out of 5 stars A delightful book!   September 29, 2003

Even if you don't want to train your spaniel, this book is worth buying just for the photographs alone.

Whether you are a novice, or an experienced trainer, this book is written specifically for those training cocker spaniels, so it presents the pitfalls of the specific breed and potential problem areas.

Read in conjunction with the "Culture Clash" by Jean Donaldson, and "Don't Shoot the Dog" by Karen Pryor, and you'll be set for a well trained and well behaved dog.
