This was and is a great little book, full of practical ideas and advice for establishing a greener lifestyle. However, it has now been updated in the form of "Go MAD - Go Make a Difference 2", which contains 500 ideas and more up-to-date referral information (websites, addresses, etc.).
A really good read May 9, 2003 13 out of 17 found this review helpful
This book is divided into bite sized chunks, advising the reader on how (s)he can be kinder to the planet. It is well layed out, amuzingly written and really easy to read, including sections especially for children and little cartoons. Quite a "right on" book, it is not shy of telling the hard truth about some major corporations. The tips are interesting and easy to follow, and you get a self satisfied feeling that you are helping to save the planet! The chapters cover every aspect of life and how you can approach it in a friendlier way: from birth to death. It includes many useful addresses for everything from bird boxes to nappy washing services and interesting facts: a good book to dip into at random.
Chock-ful volume of practical tips to help save the planet March 13, 2002 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
Go M.A.D. (Go Make a Difference) is a wonderful, practical little book, crammed full of easy-to-do things that we can all carry out to make the world a better place to live in. Sustainability is the name of the game, and the guys at The Ecologist magazine have come up trumps with this gem of a volume. Some of the suggestions are well known, e.g. put a brick in your toilet cistern to reduce the water used in the flush, whilst others are more obscure but equally do-able. All the 365 suggestions (one for each day of the year) are organised by subjects, such as water, wood, metal etc. The text is leavened with some cute cartoons, and doesn't get too preachy. If you only carried out one percent of the things mentioned in here, you'd be making a significant, positive difference to how you use your share of our world's precious resources. Go buy!
Inspiration at last! December 11, 2001 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
Many people seem to view recyling, conservation and green living as something that will ruin their "convenient" lifestyle. Here is a valauable little number that will inspire, educate and enthuse you to practice greener living without relinquishing your modern ways! The facts are up-to-date with valuable information sources listed as websites and telephone numbers. This is a must if you are researching any topic in the eco/environmental field. If everyone bought just one for Christmas and shared it with a friend the world would really be a better place!
