Very good introduction to stage hypnosis October 13, 2007 It is not a boring book but gives you an enjoyable view of all aspects of stage hypnosis. Could not put it down till I had read it all, shows how good it was.
A grotesque view on stage hypnosis. June 13, 2007 5 out of 12 found this review helpful
This book was 'written with great weight and authority', unfortunately this was not deserved. The author gives a brief over view of all apsects of stage hypnosis including the ins and outs of behind the scenes, however it gives an overall air of arrogance and is instructive rather than informative. 'Tried and tested' and 'fail proof' ideas and generalised scripts for the induction of hypnosis etc i suspect do not work. There is not enough prep work done to instruct those who wish to hypnotise how to induce this state effectively, (hardly any information on pacing, relaxation etc) and any one who knows anything about effective hypnosis will realise that clicking your fingers and saying 'sleep' does not work unless the subject believes one hundred percent that it will. The author of this book is often crude and quite obviously doesn't care about the welfare of the audience often offering insider tips which make the reader feel like they should view their audience as stupid, gullible, and as fools. I doubt for one minute that the author uses half of the techniques in this book (if he does he is a very crooked man), a more likely explanation is that he wants his royalties from the book without giving the main pointers which most people desire. (For me this was indirect suggestion). Unless you are looks for dirty little secrets which are more common knowledge that true to form gold dust then i would give this a miss. Utterly dissapointing.
Excellent place to start June 8, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Well written an very accessible, this book is a great intro for those interested in the art of stage hypnosis. Good price too. If this book whets your appetite then go on to Ormond McGill's mighty encyclopedia as it's more comprehensive. This book covers the basics well & even offers some sturdy advice concerning UK stage hypnosis laws. It's wittily written too. Great read!
The Real Deal.... February 23, 2006 10 out of 14 found this review helpful
A straight forward, no-nonsense guide to basic stage hypnotic procedures. Engagingly written with a good balance of background information and practical exercises. It was the first book on hypnosis I had read and as a result I ended up studying several courses with Jonathan Chase.I can guarantee that this man knows what he's talking about! A great reference work on the subject. Recommended.
The best yet July 21, 2005 39 out of 45 found this review helpful
I've read every book on stage hypnosis here and on the net. This is without doubt the best yet. Everything in this fun and fast to read book is do-able. I've been messing around with hypnosis for ages now but these methods have actually made it a million times easier and better. I've even wasted money on rubbish from e-bay. I've just been asked to do my friends christmas party for cash money thanks to Jonathans tips on impromptu hypnosis and that amazing super suggestion which is worth the price of this book ten times over. I've read them all but this one make all the others obsolete. I look forward to the next and will book on the masterclass. Great!
