3 out of 5 stars worlds will live and die   June 25, 2007

A novelisation of crisis on infinite earths, a twelve issue dc comic series from over twenty years ago. This tells the story of how all the parallel worlds on which their superheroes live come under threat from an evil anti matter force that destroys them all, and how the heroes have to work together to save what bits of reality they can. It was notable at the time because some big characters were killed off.

How does this work as a novel?

Narrated in the first person throughout by barry allen, the fast running superhero known as the flash, this is very good at distilling the long story in one novel of average length. And the prose is very good, giving depth to barry's character and being far more than just a straight transcription of the comics.

Will this appeal to those who have never read the comic?

I have so I'm not qualified to judge. As a novelisation of the story, it's pretty good. But I'd suggest reading the comic first in order to really get the most from it
