OK like called me old-fashioned if you like, but there is something that I find unsettling about taking books for younger readers from another era and putting our sniggering 21st cent spin on them. Yeh, truly we know there are constant changes in word meanings over the decades and serious books on the phenomenon can be interesting, but laughing at what was written in all innocence an age ago .... No sorry not for me.
Hilarious. December 24, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A wonderful very funny book. I dare anyone not to laugh out loud, how could you not? 'What to do if it's catching. A book of blank maps with instructions. Leathers in Mozambique' to name a few book titles you'll find within this book.
A soon-to-be classic December 21, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I remember some of these titles from when the Author ran the bookshop in Lewes - they were in a corner of the window with 'not for sale' signs but I always stopped and browsed with a smile on my face. Back to the book - great stocking filler or toilet shelf gem - you will love it!

I picked this book up in the Book Shop, I dont know why, and started reading, Ive never laughed out loud at anything before. I apologised to the bloke standing next to me, he said he read the book and done the same thing himself and also brought three copies to give away.
The titles choosen are so innocent and suggestive but not in a rude why at all, which makes it all the funnier.
You cant get better.
