5 out of 5 stars charming and intelligent!   October 25, 2006
this book is addictive and highly entertaining! There are cool facts that you would never have considered in here, for example - home pregnancy tests were invented in Egypt in 1,350 BC... Also loved the origin of earmuffs and candy floss. explaning everything you would never think to question about everyday things, this is the perfect christmas present for family members that have everything and think that they know everything.

5 out of 5 stars Full of Fun Facts!!   October 25, 2006
Starting with the aerosol can and ending with the zipper, this is a marvellous book to dip into and find out how everyday objects we take for granted were originally conceived. Its fantastic for wowing friends with "Did you know....?" Well researched and full of amusing anecdotes, this gem of a book will definitely be on my Christmas shopping list!
