Bought this book over 18 months ago when I was toying with the idea of starting my own grooming business and wanted some guidance. A lot of the ideas I had about running my business were in the book but it just emphasised the fact that I had the right ideas and added a few more. Ok its 'Americanised' but the customer care approach and advice is 2nd to none. Thoroughly worth the money I paid for it.

I bought this book with the view of setting up my own salon thinking it would be very informative-it wasnt,the book is geared at an already up and running salon most of the chapters were completly useless!

Book is aimed at established salons with many employees. As a mobile groomer not intending to have employees, I found large sections of the book completely useless. I found only a few pages on marketing interesting and useful - not worth buying the book for just a few pages of advice that one can get from other books on marketing.
Thought provoking with very useful ideas and systems July 12, 2004
This book is aimed more at established salons (as you may gather from the title). However, I'm setting up my grooming business later this year and there is excellent advice on how to get off on the right foot and be a success. It tells you how to make more money, get and keep customers, treat staff from hiring to promoting, marketing etc. I will be mobile groomer but found this book very useful and have set up many of the suggested forms and practices. I would highly recommend this book for anyone considering dog grooming as a career, or for established salons who need a boost.

The book is very well written and easy to follow. It has sound business ideas and in particular I found the marketing section very good. The only downside for me is that I found it is more useful for people with grooming parlours up and running. I wanted more info on actually starting one up. Having said that I'm sure it will be of help when ever I do get started!
