DON'T BUY!!!! November 28, 2006 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I only wish I'd read the reviews here before I bought it. I admit I was taken in by its handsome appearance(and it is gorgeous!).BUT I have used it only ONCE and juiced precisely 4 carrots and already it is shredding itself.the food chute would not take a whole skinny carrot and I had to chop them into little bits, the juice was fine, I got a whole glass from the carrots but when I was cleaning it I noticed all the shredded plastic. I'm really dissappointed in it. I paid 60 for this (reduced from 90 apparently) -my last juicer cost 10 and did the job better. It is certainly not 'pro commercial quality'!
Disappointing plunger October 8, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Contrary to other reviews, my wife has had two years' good service from her JuiceLady. It does get hot - after use - and it is flimsy in parts, but the key complaint is with the plunger/pusher. It is hollow and, as a result, ours has split at the bottom -- very hygienic! We would dearly love to be able to continue using the juicer, but pushing down carrots and the like with fingers or a knife is not to be recommended. We need a replacement plunger. [...]
Very poor build quality - do not touch with a bargepole. August 13, 2006 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
As all other reviewers have said... works great for a little while then all the plastic parts start to fail. The plastic is too soft and the key parts are too thin. They are supposed to hold in compression against a thin steel edge while a big motor goes round fast and causes plenty of vibration. Not a chance in hell.
When mine died I opened it up to see if I could repair it and the amount of shredded plastic that fell out was hilarious.
"Commercial Quality"? I do not think so!
Utter rubbish. Do not consider buying one.
Nice if you like shredded plastic May 19, 2006 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
Unlike some other reviews, it continued to work for several months. The juicing function is OK but not better. The problem though is the machines propensity to suddenly start eating itself. I have not been able to figure out exactly what is happening but I think the pulp unbalances the blade which then starts chewing off bits of the plunger. The net result is shredded plastic - nice. After persevering for a couple more months, one of the plastic arms that holds it altogether snapped, rendering the machine useless. This of course happened just after the warranty expired. Save your money - avoid this product.
Good while it lasted! March 22, 2006 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
Had two of these machines - the first of which was dead on arrival. The second machine, which amazon speedly replaced, lasted around a week before refusing to work. This is a shame as its ability to juice fruit and veg was excellent - even pineapple with the skin on didn't slow it down. Have now ordered the Philips HR1861 Juicer which am hoping will be more reliable.
