the new complete lurcher ,is exactly what the title states , it's all you need to know about lurchers . if you have a working lurcher this book is invaluable as a reference sorce . and the anicdotes are very amusing and enjoyable .i have yet to read a more complete book on lurchers !
A nearly complete book about lurchers October 26, 1999 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
All in all a good rounding up of the use of lurchers in hunting - except that there is no chapter "working with terriers", which is strange because nearly all lurchers will work with terriers. Instead we got a nice fantasy chapter about hunting deer which the vast majority of lurchers will never do - although the chapter was a good read.Plummers writing style is easy to read with wisdom within the anedotes like, if your dog isn't trained within the garden it won't be in the field, which should have been underlined in red. A good book and now I am going to buy his book about training lurchers.
a must for all lurcher owners September 14, 1999 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Plummer addresses his topic with the knowledge and wisdom of a man ,who has dedicated his life to dogs and the working of them .He not only inparts his wisdom compatently ,he entertains us with little anecdotes where so many other books of this nature simply inform in a strictly practical sence .When hunting is finally outlawed this will be a fine historical document of what certain men at the end of the twentieth century did in there leasure time.
