3 out of 5 stars Not ideal if you have a single handreared cockatiel   September 12, 2008
This book is ideal if you want an aviary of birds rather then a single house bird. Has some useful information if breeding. But have read better.

2 out of 5 stars Not what I call a "handbook".   February 18, 2003

With the title of "Cockatiel Handbook" I bought this book expecting it to become my bible for looking after my new pets. I was disappointed to discover the bias of the book was strongly towards the breeding of aviary birds, and so of little interest to me and my house birds. It is also worth mentioning that the author is American, and so recommends brand named products unavailable to a UK 'tiel owner.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for Beginners   July 6, 2002

I think that this book was extremely useful for helping me keep my pet cockatiel. It has everything; from colours to origin of the birds. Detailed diagrams tell you how to hold the bird inthe correct position if it is ill and it also tells you how to teach your bird to speak and perform tricks!
So if you are thinking of purchasing a pet cockatiel, this is a MUST have book for you!

5 out of 5 stars This book is very good for any age!   October 6, 2001

This book has everything you want to know about cockatiels from starting out to breeding. I have found this book very helpful even though I am only ten! I would recommend this book to anyone
starting out or just as a guide to look back on for help! It is the best book on cockatiels I have ever read - and I have read lots!
