Flawed and dangerous November 30, 2008 The central gimmick of this trimmer is the motorised shield which, if it worked reliably, would allow you to trim to a specified length. Unfortunately, the exposed blades and the necessity of holding the razor at exactly 90 degrees to maintain anything close to an even length mean that at anything above the lowest setting this product is a pain to use and, as many other reviewers have noted, borderline dangerous. A cheap, plasticky shell and slightly ugly look don't help the package. Which is a shame, because this idea is so good on paper that you just hope that with some perseverence a later generation of this product will get it right. Unfortunately, this one feels like an early prototype that has been accidentally released as the finished article.
Perfect trim November 27, 2008 The Babyliss for Men I-Trim Stubble left me rather surprised at how great it is after having been disappointed with similar trimmers in the past. It's extremely precise and the best part is that it works for body hair too (it even says so on the box).
Definitely worth getting if you like to keep your facial (or body hair) neat and trimmed.
Good Idea, bad Execution November 27, 2008 If only this did what it said on the can. Lovely design, grate idea ref the digital length that each setting has, but flawed when it comes to the use of. Having to hold both external parts of the trimmer directly onto your face is near impossible, and leads to an uneven trim. Not worth the hassle.
stubble no troubles November 26, 2008 about the best on the market first class! easy to use top rate
Different strokes . . . November 24, 2008 The thing about shavers - any kind, wet or dry - is the old "one man's meat" problem. Plus, at the risk of quoting from the handbook of the bleeding obvious, men have different types of skin, different rates of growth and different nooks and crannies for shavers to deal with, so finding a one-size-fits-all device is the stuff of fantasy. I'm a dedicated wet shaver of the old school, so I passed the I-Trim to my son, and after about four or five weeks he reckons he's got the hang of it. He has a light growth, so the lowest setting is fine for him, but initial trial and error left him with some unsightly reddening of the skin, especially round the neck. He tells me the secret (for him) is to hold the razor very lightly against the skin, and to start from the lowest setting up until you find the setting you're comfortable with. He also uses a pre-electric moisturiser which seemed to help things along. Good points are the neat charging unit and the non-lubricating blades. Overall he's fairly pleased with the effect, but reckons it's more aimed at people with a heavier growth. The acid test came when I asked if he would shell out money for it. No, came the reply, he preferred my ancient Philips Philishave Tracer circa 1995 which, despite only having two fixed heads, gave a kinder shave which left his skin feeling less dry.
