Just buy one! June 27, 2008 Buy it. You won't regret it.
Its beautiful. It's well made. It's VERY easy to clean because its design and manufacture are of highest standard. Its variable speeds are good for anything. Its attachments are great and it beckons you to make something.
The red colour is gorgeous. I suspect whatever colour you choose will be equally as gorgeous though!
Dont think twice ! Sorry for the few people who must have had rejects, not sure why just didnt ask for a replacement if sent a faulty one. For everyone else it seems if we could award more than 5 stars we would....Id give it 10 !!!

I bought this mixer back in 2002 and finally got it out of my hair last year. Ever since I bought it I had nothing but trouble with it - the speed ratio was too fast and had to be sent back to KitchenAid for readjustment. The mixer came back damaged and scratched. A replacement arrived, and within 6 months the motor started to labour even on mixing a light dough. The catch that locks the mixer in place became faulty and wouldn't lock, so it went back in for a repair. Again the mixer came back damaged. Yet another replacement arrived - making my 3rd mixer in the space (at that time) of two years. This one worked with acceptable limitations - the mixture was not plucked from the sides of the bowl thoroughly and required a lot of scraping during mixing (for instance when adding cocoa powder to a cake mix the powder would not be incorporated properly unless the mixture was frequently scraped off). Again, this replacement mixer seemed to have trouble coping whisking 5 egg whites on the high speeds - with almost constant straining sounds on the motor (high revs followed by low revs). The "odour" that is described in the manual did NOT disappear after the first few uses as KitchenAid states - consequently when I used the mixer (which was about twice a week) - I still was faced with a putrid sulphur-like smell for the first minute or two - THREE YEARS after first having it replaced. I ended up giving this mixer to my brother, and buying a completely new type of machine, which I am thoroughly pleased with. One thing for sure, I would NOT recommend this mixer to anyone.
best ever investment September 7, 2006 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I had deliberated for too long whether to purchase this mixer, cost was holding me back, now that I have bought it, I don't know why I ever hesitated. It definately delivers exactly what it's meant to do. I've had other mixers and this one definately rates the best for quality, reliability and power. I wish I had bought this years ago! By the way Amazon costs works out the cheapest, when I was shopping around other reputable dealers they were very close. I actually ended up not knowing amazon stocked it and so bought it elsewhere, but as a loyal customer of Amazon books I felt I had to rate this product for those needing help in considering to buying it. As the reviews I read on the Amazon site were the final deciding factors for my purchase. Go for it, treat yourself!

In this throw-away society it is nice to see there are a few things you can buy and keep for years. I love this mixer and use it almost everyday in preparing meals for my family. If you like to bake bread, make biscuits, etc...this is the one for you.
