| Customer Reviews:
Beautiful and lyrical. May 31, 2005 Henry wants to climb a mountain. However, because he refuses to pay taxes to a state which condones slavery, he is jailed for a night. This doesn't stop Henry, who roams free in his own imagination. He still gets to go mountain climbing, to splash through rivers, and to meet and make a new friend. D. B. Johnson has based the "Henry" books on the life of the American writer, Henry David Thoreau. These are exceptionally fine children's books, illustrated beautifully, featuring many nature motifs. The simple and lyrical text manages to convey interesting ideas in a way which feels easy and natural, and the pictures will delight children and adults alike.
