Already featured elsewhere September 9, 2005 70 out of 75 found this review helpful
I bought this hoping that it would expand on the General Collins DIY manual that I already own. It doesn't and it features much of the text / diagrams of said book.
Not sure about 'Complete Plumbing and Central Heating' .. January 13, 2005 37 out of 40 found this review helpful
but for the basics in Plumbing/Central Heating it's a must! I always stayed well clear of water in the home but since buying the book i've drained my Central Heating system, removed and replaced radiators, used capillary & compression fittings etc. The book offers clear pictures / diagrams and explains each procedure well.

This book doesn't quite give the information I bought it for - my own fault maybe! Certainly, it is NOT the complete plumbing & central heating guide. It doesn't tell you how to install central heating, and should only be seen as a basic guide to the world of plumbing. If you are looking to save yourself a few quid on the odd-jobs around the house, maybe this is your book. However, if you want to tackle a bigger project, look at other sources of information.
Handy but doesn't quite do everything it says on the tin June 3, 2004 89 out of 93 found this review helpful
This is very handy guide to plumbing but it's not a 'complete guide' to central heating. If you're tackling a central heating installation you'll need other reference sources as well (good luck on finding the latest information on installing a full combi system!). The contents are well laid out and illustrated, they are also repeated page for page as a chapter in the hard backed "Collins Complete Guide to DIY". If you're only interested in plumbing (and basic heating) buy this book. If you're a general DIY-er spend the extra tenner on the Complete Guide to DIY - you won't regret it.
Will get you out of a Jam March 22, 2004 34 out of 37 found this review helpful
As a Carpenter, I've founds this book really useful. Any other chippy will know what I mean when I say I've been sick of waiting around on site for plumbers, who never turn up.Especially if i'm fitting a kitchen. If your a willing to have a go, this is the book for you. It isn't full of boring crap that you already know or don't need to know. It just gives you the basic " this goes here and that goes there ". If you've got a few plumbing tools and half a brain your laughing. It's the best 7 quid I've spent in ages.
