Good easy read but untimately frustrating December 2, 2007 Yes I know it wouldn't make a novel out of the story if she gets together with her man when she has the opportunity but I found myself several times in this book saying out loud "that wouldn't happen". Events which cause the two main characters to yet again drift apart seem to fill this book. I like the format of the book, in email, text and letter. You never have a straight reporting of an event but the mention of what happened in the conversations afterward which made me think about the plot rather than having everything put on a plate. I also liked the characters and thought that the repeat of friendship in the daughter was quite a good trick. The ending was predictable but I'd have been cross if it had been any other way.
CHILDISH, LACKING IN CREDIBILITY, LAZY AUTHOR November 27, 2007 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
Having heard all of the hype I made the BIG mistake of actually purchasing this waste of money (why can you not get your money back under the trade descriptions act when a book does not match the blurb written by the publishers??). I read approx 2 books per week and this is one of the biggest disappointments ever. The story is quite frankly unbeleiveable with a lack of chemistry between the main characters. This is compounded by the fact the authour talks about sending IM's etc in the 80's and early 90's Miss Ahern please do us readers the favour of checking your facts as this tech did not exist back then. It is not hard to tell that this book was written by a child with quite frankly little experience in the real world and this shines through in this novel. I would have rate this book 0 stars if I had the option
Do not pass this item by! September 23, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
What an amazing author. Being a creature of habit when I find an author whose writing style I like - I stick with them. Venturing to this was unusual move for me but one I certainly dont regret. Cecelia Ahern is a super writer who I will highly recommend to anyone. DO NOT PASS HER BY. Trust me, this is worth a shot. Whilst I was skeptical to start seeing as it is all written in notes or emails from each character to another, I was wrong to be so. I am now totally addicted having read 2 of her books in a week - these are ones that can not be put down. (And yes I do work full time and have a social life - thank you)
not as good as others August 28, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
After readin Ps.I love you I decided to read another book by the same authour but didn't think this book was as good.. it's a good storyline and I did want to know what happene with the characters but the way it was written through texts and emails was really annoying because sometimes you just wanted some proper dialogue and sometimes it got boring and I found myself skipping through if it was a long email or letter.. I would of liked it much better if the characters got together earlier on
Hooks you to keep reading! August 21, 2007 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I wasn't sure i liked the way it was wrote, being only with letters and IM's but then i got into it and i think this is the best book Cecilia has written. I have all her books, and i urge you to read all of them, but this one especially :) Its predictable but there are just enough twists and shocks to keep you interested and reading! BUY IT!
