This book was recommened to me by friends, and I am so glad that I took their advice and read this. It is one of my favourite books of all time. I just loved it so much, I found it really interesting to see the story unfold from the perspective from Annes sister, and experience the life of the court through her eyes. Luckily I read this book before I saw the movie otherwise I never would have bothered with it. The history might not be 100% accurate but its so well written and enjoyable that I didn't care and just enjoyed the novel at face value. Highly recommended!!

The Other Boleyn Girl was my first introduction to Philippa Gregory's writing and subsequently had me hooked! As a result of her astonishing ability to provide the reader with a vivid and rich account based on fact, with exciting, intense charactors and a plot already provided for by history, Gregory allows her readers to indulge themselves in the exciting world of intrige, danger and passion of King Henry's court from a perspective not before addressed. While no doubt a fair amount of poetic licence has been used throughout, the end result is a top rate read! Not all of Gregory's other novels rate so highly for me, but THIS one was terrific!

It does annoy me that Phillipa Gregory and her like prefer to take the sensationalist track to sell their book rather than sticking to the truth. Sadly, the truth of what happened in regard to Anne Boleyn is far more fascinating than the 'claptrap' served up by this author. I won't be bothering with anymore of her books as I really do prefer fact to fiction!

I absolutely loved this book, having been convinced that I wouldn't. It's really well written, the story is fantastic, and knowing the eventual outcome just makes it more exciting. It really brings the court of Henry VIII to life, and it's historically accurate enough for my needs in a page turner! I certainly know a lot more about it now than I did. I am now reading every other book she has written, as I loved it so much.
A different side to a well known story September 15, 2008
I picked this up without knowing anything about the author and I hadn't heard about the film. Being Irish I was never very interested in the English kings and queens but this book looked different and interesting and it was. It also made me interested in this period and looked up a little history because of it.
For those that say it is inaccurate, first I don't know a lot about this time. Philippa Gregory is a historian and has some good arguments on the parts people object to, like which sister was oldest. But this is a novel I doubt she would want people to take it so seriously, it's interesting to read and it can spark interest in people to learn history, what's so wrong with that.
