5 out of 5 stars Learning from nature   April 24, 2008
Great book by Ken Thomson. Lot's of good examples of how groups in nature self organise with many lessons for our usual management model of command and control. Well worth reading.

4 out of 5 stars Natural Business?   April 18, 2008
How many of us whilst working within modern organizations have felt that there is something fundamentally "unnatural" about their structure and modus operandi? Based on an in-depth analysis of Nature's systems and processes, Ken Thompson has literally turned the classic "Command and Control" model on it's head.
The first part of the book summarises the key principles in a pithy, accessible way while the later parts provide a wealth of information and examples for the more studious reader.
The interesting aspect for me however was how Thompson combined his study of natural systems with his deep understanding of Information and Communications technology.
With the ongoing evolution of the Internet - whether it be Web2.0 or the Internet going Mobile - Thompson may well have got the timing for his thinking spot on.
A thought provoking, well-written, business/management book
And funny enough - it feels right.....
