i bought this console the and it ceased working within a month i got the ever popular ring of death so i figured hey bad luck could happen to any one so i replace it go to the shop get my replacement 3 days later it ceases to work ring of death again so last time i try and another one same deal ring of death within six months so i put it back got my money back saved up an bought a ps3 its amazin graphics are better plays blue ray discs does more than my old 360 you dont have to pay to play on line like with xbox live and there big thing is you can play up to 12 million people but then again how you going to play all those people the ps3 has an online followin of about 10 million people more than enough to be gettin on with xbox 360 rushed this console out the door to get it on the market before the release of the ps3 and in so doing they sacrificed efficiency and life expectancy and as a result i personally will not be buying any microsoft products above and beyond what i have too.

2 out of 5 stars 360 Faulty Console   May 30, 2008

Right let's get things started on a positive note

1) The on-line gaming on the 360 is superb & second to none in my opinion
2) The graphics & games available on the console are top notch & can't be criticised
3) It's approx 100.00 cheaper than the main competition
4) Warranty has been extended because of issues

Sorry that's it

Now the main issue's

1) The console has a major fault & it's a gamble if you receive one that will last approx 6 months before developing a critical fault (aka RROD), regardless of how new a model you receive or how you treat the console.

I know this as upon finding out about the prospective problem of RROD I phoned customer care & asked them for advise on how to store, use treat the console to avoid any problems which I have done, yet low & behold 6 months of use it suddenly has decided to die on me
2) The fan makes one hell of a noise
3) Regardless of the noisy fan the console still runs hot
3) The battery pack for the handsets needs constant recharging/replacing

So if you want a cheap next gen console with reliability issues the Xbox 360 is your chappy, otherwise I recommend you look else where for your gaming fix

5 out of 5 stars Excellent   May 28, 2008

I find the 360 really user-friendly and at the moment has a better selection of games at the moment. The whole Xbox v PS3 arguement is tedious as they both have their good points, personally I prefer the Xbox after owning the PS1 and PS2 and several Nintendos beforehand. Xbox live is a great point because it is so easy to use and extends the life of every game.

5 out of 5 stars falcon   May 28, 2008

the xbox is awsome no matter what anybody sayes if you are thinking about buying on now is the best time because they are so cheep and if you are worried about not getting one with the facon chipset their are 3 tell tail signs 1) the HMDI port (premium (not sure about core) 2) the consoles with the falcon chip were made after october and have 11/11/07 on the back 3) on the power brick and the box there is a power rating and if it is 175w then it has the falcon chip set in it.

3 out of 5 stars Microsoft's second outing   May 27, 2008

Some consumers may already feel shortchanged when Microsoft decided to move to focus on the 360 with the Xbox having not been around that long. The main problem that seems to have surfaced with Microsoft's latest console is its reliabilty.

Many people have had to return the console with the well known Red Ring Of Death issue. The 360 now has a new falcon motherboard which supposedly allieviates the issue but only time will tell. Without a doubt the 360's build quality is not as good as its competitors plus the fact it's so noisy which will drive some people mad.

The games are good with the likes of Halo 3, Mass Effect and others. That is one of the advantages of the system with some top titles being available thanks to its longer time on the market. Plus you have the best online service in Xbox Live. Yes, you do get your fair share of idiots which is a shame but don't let them spoil your fun.

The Xbox 360 is a good console but has the most uncertainty hanging over it. Will Microsoft ditch it soon to compete with blu-ray and take care of reliablity issues? Who knows, but the other two consoles are definitely safer bets if you want a console to last you longer. If you don't get a 360 the only thing you're really missing is Live so if online gaming isn't your thing the 360 isn't worth bothering with.
