1 out of 5 stars Top O' The Morning to Ya!   May 29, 2008

I decided to rent this out recently to see what all the fuss was about. Plus, i quite like Hilary Swank and Lisa Kudrow as actors so it couldn't be that bad, right?

WRONG! This is literally one of the worst movies that i have ever seen. I didn't intent to watch this and jeer. I expected a light romantic/tragic bit of fluff but this is so much worse than i had ever anticipated.

Firstly, there's the script - irritatingly cliched, messy and completely unrealistic, the Irish accent - where does he think Ireland is, in Russia?, the impression of Ireland - everyone is a farmer, drinks and sings, and finally the actual storyline - what is the story again?

The story jumps around so much that you actually begin not to care about the characters or what happens to them. I can't understand what the telent involved in this movie were thinking when they signed up.

Cecilia Ahern, who's book this is based on, has become something of a whirlwind in the book world. Everyone says that the book is better and maybe it is, i haven't read it. All i know is, if this is even slightly based on the book, that's enough to ensure a life time ban of Cecilia Ahern in my house!

5 out of 5 stars Best Film Ever ** Beware Tissues Needed**   May 28, 2008

This really is my favourite film ever, I laughed, cried, laughed, cried throughout the whole film. It was brilliant, so funny and moving and a real feel good film. I could just watch it over and over again. Buy this if you like feel good, romantic funny films.

1 out of 5 stars This is so bad!   May 20, 2008

Gerard Butler was at his finest in 300
Feeling guilty for watching it so often at the expense of my partner, I thought let's get this and have a cosy night in!
From the first scene, I was cringing. This is just so bad, so hollywood, so ingenuous, so trite.
This is not a chick-flick that boys can enjoy with their girlfriends; this is a just poor film.
Buy "dear Frankie" instead, it's brilliant

5 out of 5 stars As beautiful as Ghost!   May 20, 2008

At first when I read the book, four years before the film came out, it reminded me of Ghost because of the sentimental feeling of the story. I love both the book and the film. Ok, it had many differences between them but that is what makes it special. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry but the story and message reminds you that whenever you are left alone in the world, there are many others who are alone like you and that you are in it together. I was so surprised about the cast when all the publicity came into the attention of the public. Hilary Swank, one of my favorite women in Hollywood made a wonderful Holly and Gerard Butler couldn't have made Gerry anymore perfect even if he tried! A perfect chick-flick with a huge supply of Galaxy chocolate and a box of tissues!

1 out of 5 stars Mortified   May 19, 2008

The book i hold in my top ten reads. I loved every second of it. It made me smile, Cry and even sobb.
I knew the film was not going to do it justice at all.
And my word it didn't. It was totally different and really disappointing.
I wish i had never watched it.
If you have never read the book, you might like it.
But for those who want to watch it from enjoying the book.... dont get your hopes up.
2/10
