Imaginative ways of seeing God, to delight the heart December 29, 2000 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Trevor Dennis writes with imagination and ingenuity in this book of short stories which bring fresh insights into the ways and works of God. Come with an open mind, prepared to be challenged and delighted by the pictures he paints. His subjects range widely, from the Creation (with God teaching Adam and Eve to bounce stones on the river in Eden) to Heaven (and God, frustrated by the occupants of the Holy City who take her too seriously, splashing and playing in the lake with the creatures who inhabit it). Shocking? Perhaps - but do you ever feel that your Christianity has become dull, your faith static? These stories could be just the antidote you need! For me, reading this book was like looking out through tiny clean patches on a dirty window, and glimpsing the long-forgotten sparkling brightness of the world outside. I was challenged me to live, to play, to dance, in that brightness - to become more fully the human I was created to be. I am reading some of the author's other books; they all open my mind to new ways of looking at life, but so far, for me, Imagining God takes first prize. It's a book I shan't risk lending!
