 Waste of money November 29, 2007
It's hard to imagine a more useless piece of software, it does nothing of any merit. Do not even consider buying this software. I tried and failed to get this to work for two days, I gave up and threw it away. The description on the box says 'easy and natural', what a joke.
A useless, pointless waste of money, to be avoided at all costs.

I bought this to redesign my living room (a long thin shape with a curving wall) but (apart from not being able to run on my PC - I had to run it on the laptop) it's only when you've got to the end of an extremely complicated room build function (unless you live in a square box) that I realised I could not change the size of any of the furniture - useless! Also the list of furniture is extremely limited - no piano/fishtank - no anything out of the ordinary. A complete waste of my money. I haven't used it since.

I purchased this software during a visit to the 'Homebuilding and Renovation Show'. The software was demo'd on an quite an old laptop and seemed to do all the things which I had wanted: The ability to create a model of the house; quick rendering of a model of your house in 3d with various skins; perform walkthoughs, with different camera angles like on the TV shows `Grand Designs' and `Property ladder'.
I should have had alarm bells ringing when a menu appeared at a later stage of installation - amongst which, were icon/buttons for `diagnostics'!! Which basically generates a report for all the bits an bobs which you have in your system and what you need, and what went wrong.
I was desperate to get the software to work, but after three-weeks of emails back and forth to the tech support; and after a number of blue-screens (with subsequent complete operating-system re-installs), the tech support guy was out of ideas and suggested that I return the product with receipt for a refund.

Having purchased the package to model a house and look at potential structural changes, the package sounded perfect from its description.
True, the rooms are easy to construct and unusual room shapes are easily achieved. The results look good instantly.
The main drawback is the ability to scale any of the items to model the real sizes. The room sizes are restricted to lengths to the nearest metre. All structural items are fixed sizes and you are limited to the few available. Even the vertical positioning of windows within a wall is fixed. I couldn't even fit a stairway because the size of my hallway doesn't match the size of the 2 left-hand stairways available!!
Similarly, the size of furnishings cannot be adjusted and range of different sizes is very limited, so it is not easy to see how well furniture will fit within the (approximate) space available.
Having asked the manufacturer's, their response was "I am sure future releases will include the ability to scale objects and the software will use intelligent scaling. I'm sure the feature list will grow as the product develops as this was the first release of the product and it does push the boundaries visually for such a product."
In conclusion, there seems to be an emphasis on the visual presentation rather than the accuracy of the model. If you are looking for a simple graphics package with 3D facilities, then this may be ideal. Personally, I will be throwing this package away and looking for a replacement - any recommendations!!?

At last a home design package that doesn't stick to 2D cad style plans.
When I first started the program I thought it would be daunting but the drag and drop system makes it easy. If you want to add a room you just choose a room and drag it to the plan. Pull a wall and you've got your own room dimensions. You can create complex rooms easily by adding extra wall segments which can be pulled or pushed. I coudln't find any shaped room I couldn't re create in the software.
The best thing in my view about this program is that you can choose wall colours with a simple click of the mouse, want a blue wall easy .. click on the brush, choose a colour and then click on a wall. Reading the keyboard short cuts helped as holding down a key while clicking can give you much more flexibility.
Once you've built your room / home you can walk around it. Quite strange how you can spend so long in a virtual world. You can open doors, blinds and windows which works well with all the nice surface effects and shadows. Infact the whole program is visually stunning with jaw dropping detail.
Overall a great piece of software which will impress your friends and inspire you to build your dream home.
