No complaints from occasional user. January 24, 2008 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
I've had Office 97 on my home PCs for years - only really using Word and Excel for personal stuff. Recently I have been required to use Office 2003 at work, so I thought I should update to 2007. After an hour of familiarising myself with 'the Ribbon', I was totally converted. I now find it easier to use than 97 and can see the logic behind the different tab groupings.
The reviews from the power users are, perhaps, understandable; if you know 2003 inside and out, why change? But I don't see the problem with the new .docx format as conversion is a button click away. Also any .doc opened is saved in its original format unless you choose otherwise. All in all a great product and lots of help from the web site.
Microsoft have ruined their software January 21, 2008 34 out of 39 found this review helpful
This software is almost unrecognisable from the previous version. I can't find anything (even some basic things). The learning curve is massive.
Using 2007 is not as uncomfortable as relearning bowel control but none of us would sign up to relarning something we do naturally so why buy 2007. I expect all the features which enable us to get things done quickly are still in there but you can't do it quickly any more because you can't find the feature you need!
Anyway if you are going to learn what is effectively new software why not go for Lotus (the difference is that huge).
If it aint broke don't fix it!
On the plus side it looks a bit prettier
More user friendly than 2003 January 12, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I'll admit, at first it is very difficult to use, but once you have been using it a while, you'll see it is a lot more user friendly than 2003 was, and people who are not very good with microsoft office packages will find they can do a lot more with it, as it is much easier to find what you are looking for. As for the price, if you look around you'll be able to find a better price for what you want. Just remember, if all you want is Word,Excel and Powerpoint, Office Home and Student will be better for you, and cheaper than Standard
Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition January 6, 2008 14 out of 23 found this review helpful
Bought for my daughters laptop which had Vista; we didn't like Vista. So bought this application so that we could have something similar to Word, which we had on our main computer. Only used Microsoft Word previously; this is slightly different but you very quickly overcome any differences. Now prefer this to Word; find it excellent and would recommend it. Very easy and quick to install.Don't understand some of the comments from other purchases re not as good as Word.
Haven't as yet useed the other applications but feel sure that they will be just as good and easy to use.
Maybe its just me... January 3, 2008 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I'm 19, a student at uni and have been using Microsoft Works which came with my laptop last August. I hate Microsoft Works. So within the last two weeks i've been searching for another program that would offer me more functionality for my uni work. I downloaded the trial and have to say that i've no problem with it whatsoever. Seriously... although the sight of seeing the new layout was initially disheartening i have to admit that i don't find it that hard to use the new layout or any other features. It does what i want it to do and i'm perfectly fine with the way it runs. I adapt fairly quickly to things so the changes don't matter so much to me.
However, i'm using the trial version which you can get of the Microsoft website (the uk version not the .com one) which gives you three options, that of testing it in your web browser straight away, downloadind a two month trial (which i've done), or buying it. I would test it if you're unsure to see if it works well on your pc/laptop before buying considering the volume of reviews that point out the inadequacy of the product.
At least try it out, i would say
