2 out of 5 stars Not very impressed   September 8, 2007

As an IT trainer, I have to keep up-to-date with all versions of Office so I got a copy of 2007. First impressions are not favourable. I can't see any appreciable advantage over the 2003 version. The cosmetic changes to the menu layouts etc just make it awkward to use and the garish colour scheme a la windows Vista just distracts from the work in hand.

On my work PC and Mac I will continue to use the 2003 & 2004 versions. I will have to keep the 2007 version to produce teaching stuff but that's about all I will use it for....

3 out of 5 stars Value ......... or is it ?   September 8, 2007

Quite good value for software from Microsoft, and a must 'add on' for any student off to university, especially as it can legitimately be loaded onto three laptops or pc's at any one time - a bonus for families with more than one child or student whom may each have their own pc or laptop.

Others, not students, tempted to buy it for their basic office needs such as Word and Excel and Powerpoint, may perhaps first like to check and see if their employer is signed up to Microsofts 'Home User Program'. This allows employees to register with Microsoft and get a more fully loaded Office package for the price of the disk plus postage and packing, currently about 18.

4 out of 5 stars Office 2007... A definate improvement.   August 31, 2007

I not so long ago purchased a Notebook to help with my University work and found that i had no copy of Office to actually do my work on so i browsed online stores for the latest version of office which was "Office 2007" which was the Home and Student Edition, perfect for me as it had:

- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft OneNote

Amazon had the best price at the time and so i ended up purchasing it, and i must say that i like it very much. This is a definate improvment from using Office 2003, but it only get's 4 stars as i find the Tool Bar options (File, Edit, View etc) rather annoying to navigate, but that is just my personal opinion.

Very much improved and with the Compatability function allowing you to open and save documents from previous versions (from 97 to 2003) makes things easier.

Highly recommended for sudents and those who just want the basics out of Office with a touch more style and a better look.

3 out of 5 stars Don't make 'em like they used to...   August 30, 2007

Ever noticed the build quality on your car is worse than the one you had ten years ago? Well, dare I say it, but this feels a bit like having plastic seats. They work, but they can be annoying and get you sticky. Like the other reviewers on here, I vote to stick with the old version: the new one is fine, but the familiarity of the old one and its features are certainly not bettered by this version.

5 out of 5 stars The future is here!   August 30, 2007

I always found Windows Nt/Me/Xp/2000/1997/1995 & dos rathere hard to handle, complicated and overall rathere black-and-white with a blotchy tint. I never was 100/100 on computers, not even 70, but Windows Vista has totally changed the way I view softwere, computers and the future in general. I got the Vista home premium package, which is a part of this double-box set and will never forget how it wiped the blotch of Vaseline off of my glasses. A new world was opened to me: the world of ease online. Science I have had Vista [a few months now] I have never encountered any viruses apart from a tracking coockie which actually has its benifits. I`m not sure if this is because of Vista its self, or because of the Norton Anti-Virus which is specially formulated to suit vista. Whichever it is, I really don`t care, because Vista has opened a doorway for me into the future... Enjoy [trust me you will].
