4 out of 5 stars Does the job!   March 2, 2008

I have been a Norton user for about three years and seen my pc speed slow down over the years. After reading other mixes reviews I decided to stick with this product and USE THE NORTON REMOVAL TOOL prior to installation.
All installed on two pc's in about forty minutes, no bother.
Performance improved, security improved, all together better.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product better than 2007 version   March 1, 2008

I ordered this product having let my 2007 version lapse I checked others reviews and uninstalled my previous Norton version and within 30 minutes of installing was up and running with no problems. I think this version is faster than the 2007 version. Great product.

1 out of 5 stars Worst Norton Item Released   February 24, 2008

Whatever you do, save your cash and avoid this at all costs. After crashing halfway through the first installation, I was advised to download fixes from the Microsoft web site and run an uninstall program from the norton web site (this took 1 hour). This screwed up my internet settings and took me 30 minutes to re-connect to the internet after thinking my broadband access was a dial up 56K modem. My system then started running like an absolute dog and is currently taking me nearly 2 hours to uninstall it.

My advice? Avoid this and go with Webrot Spysweeper - much more user freindly and it doesn't think that your own PC is trying to hack itself. Absolute garbage

5 out of 5 stars Big changes for the better!   February 21, 2008

I used to hate Norton for years with such a passion, I would tell everyone to stay away from it! However, NIS 2008 has changed that completely after trying out a trial version of NIS 2008. It feels light and nippy even on my 5 years old PC, which is so unlike the old, bloated, dinosaur AV software of Norton we once used to know! :p

The biggest change is Norton's memory footprint and it is tiny! You do not notice it running in the background. From the Task Manager, Norton's biggest application is running at 13Kb as I type now! I have used AVG Free 7.5 for over a year and even with its basic features, it is actually much more bloated in comparison with Norton! Having a bloated Antivirus software that slows down your brand new computer is a no-no!

In comparison with previous Norton software, NIS 2008 has no more annoying pop-ups every while and no complicated interface. It now has the clean and simple interface which you would figure out straightaway as soon as you opened it.

This is an ideal security software for any family especially with the kids. Though I don't have any kids of my own, I am happy to stick it in my PC.

If your experience has been fouled big-time by the previous Norton software, I can recommend you to try out a trial from Symantec site before you buy!
