This is by far the best piece of software I have used to date. It's also the first piece of software i've ever bought... because it's that good!

I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-Bit.
Like another user has replied with a comment reguarding Nero 8 not wanting to install over previous versions, you can use Revo Uninstaller to remove ALL traces of any programme: including earlier versions of Nero.

This is a wonderfuil product (if only I could get it out of trial mode). On the installation side removed Nero 6, then clean your computers registry with Registry Mechanic V5. Nero 8 installed perfectly and didn't slow down my system at all, HOWEVER the new interface through me off for quite a few hours. I eventually found the normal functions of the program (Nero Vision, Burning Rom, DVD backup and etc), which was berried away. I couldn't find any of this until I clicked on the red flame button, to the lower left of the screen.
The big improvement with this version is it's ability to burn several video files, of different formats into one compilation. You had to work the bit-rate out your-self with Nero 6, but version 8 will do this automatically. Nero 6 would only do the automatic fitting to disc calculations, if all the files were AVI, however mixing AVI's with MPG's would throw the program right off.
Unfortunately though, some-one at Ahead Technologies has got so paranoid with program piracy, that I can't even use the serial that I've purchased. I keep on getting the "NAG" screen upon every application that I use, and despite contacting them, they will not send me a new serial. Looks like a hundred dollars down the drain. Looks like I'm stuck with Nero 6!

I have used Nero since version 5 and its still the best burning software out there. I had no problems installing the sofware but then again I'm still running XP Pro. Nero still burns easily and makes making DVD's a doddle but it keeps getting more and more memory hungry and space hungry, Nero scout can thankfully be knocked off which helps. Ok so the goods things are that Nero is as good as it has always been, except, I seem to have the occaisional hang whn trying to add video clips and its becoming more like Norton Internet Security its getting bigger and slowing down. Maybe Nero could offer a different version without the media centre stuff, but for these reasons it gets a 4.

Be warned - before buying, download the trial version and use it in anger for a few days. After the first day Nero Scout - yet another indexing application - will have hogged all your PC's resources and slowed everything to a snails pace. Provided you dont need Nero Home you would be well advised to disable Nero Scout - just to enable you to do other work!!!
As a burner the application is great - but why oh why do we have to pay for all the other bloatware.
