5 out of 5 stars Does the job   July 23, 2008

Well, what you can say about a virus programme? My hard-drive hasn't suddenly been formatted yet, so it seems to be doing a pretty decent job of everything. No sign of any viruses yet!

4 out of 5 stars Norton 360   July 22, 2008
Product includes everything that majority of users will require for Internet Security. I have found Norton products in the past very useful friendly and I would say appeal to users who want an easy security system. As everything is colour coded to advise whether the items are upto date or are running properly. The product is quite pricey unless you decide to use it on all 3 PC's if you have that many. Overall easy to use with some configurable features for more advanced users. Generally Norton also have good support should you run into problems.

3 out of 5 stars User friendly- even for a luddite like me.   July 22, 2008
I am no expert,in fact, I can be a bit slow on the uptake on all things technical. However, even I know that every home PC needs anti virus software. This ceratinly carries out all that it claims to and even gives you a little display to tell you how things are doing. Despite its hard work though- am I still supposed to be getting so much Spam? Strangely we get more French Spam now than before. Most odd. However, we are virus free, even if some of the jargon it proudly displays on its little progress table does make me scratch my head. I am married to an IT expert, but I can assure you that I installed this without asking him a thing. I knew Norton was a good one and I haven't been disappointed but as I say, its doesn't see all the Spam off, in fact I seem to be getting more.

3 out of 5 stars Speaking as a layman - it does the job, but not perfectly   July 19, 2008
The real test of an antivirus program is - how well does it stop internet viruses. Something it is very difficult for the average computer owner to know, which is why name recognition is important, and Norton are one of the biggest.
I have used Norton before, recently switched to AVG, then took the opportunity to come back to Norton. On the first load, it picked up on a virus that AVG had missed - that gets the software a pass mark in my book. Apart from that, how did it do?
N360 clearly has some polish - installing was very straightforward and easy to do, and the interfaces are straightforward and intuitive.
However, some niggles - when installing, the reload did not seem to pick up where the old version left off - my old backups were lost, and I had to reset all the settings from scratch.
Also, although this version seems to run more unobtrusively (Thank goodness!) when closing down the computer the program fails to close - every single time. So far no support line has helped fix this problem. It's not a big deal, but annoying when splashing out on a software that the competition does for free.
There is a useful feature to have your back up on a remote server - if you feel un-paranoid enough to do so, and of course to any other media such as external hard drive. Other bells and whistles include an automatic form filler and password saver... only advisable if you are the only user. I've not yet seen the PC optimizing option kick in.
All told, I am relatively happy - but when oh when will one of these big providers get all the details right, instead of leaving us with bug ridden programs?

4 out of 5 stars so far so good   July 19, 2008
this disc was quite easy to install and after a few weeks of using it seems to be a good thing. But only time will tell if it does as it says on the tin so to speak. After 12 months though you do have ti re-register at a price and have to continue to do so every 12 months after that if you want to keep it working and keep your pc free from viruses, trojans, etc.
