What can I say? July 18, 2008 I'm not sure what else I can say about this product that others haven't. It's very simple to install, it's very efficient, it works. It allows you to scan any folders and files you want, and alerts you to any problems, which you can then fix. It's a very straightforward product, a lot easier than I thought anti-virus software would be, to be honest. I will certainly be extending my cover when it expires.
Very good, does what it's supposed to do July 18, 2008 Well this is a very comprehensive product which does all the things you would expect it to do - and more. Yes there's the anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall, not to mention the anti-phishing system but there is much more such as system back-up and realtime scanning etc. Too much really, I had to disable some things in order for my system to speed up a little. Still, it's easy to do and surely it's better to have too much than too little. Recommended product.
Not bad, OneCare is better July 17, 2008 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
Norton Anti-virus has always been a respectable product, however in recent years it has failed to hit the mark as the top AV product on the market with McAfee managing to edge ahead. This latest offering is not just about Virus protection but also aims to improve all aspects of security including firewall, and backup software. Personally I would recommended looking at Microsoft's Live OneCare package ( Windows Live OneCare 2.0, 3 User License (PC)) which provides the same benefits at a lower cost and greater integration with the core operating system.
A devil in disguise? July 17, 2008 This product works well and doesn't skip on any features. Whether it will successfully protect you is difficult to measure, since many viruses don't advertise their presence. So maybe it doesn't work at all, but I haven't found out yet.
But that problem is true of all security suites, and I guess we have to go on trust and rely on uber-geeks to get under the bonnet and see how it works.
So skipping the technical stuff, is it nice to use? Well, yes, it is. A little obtrusive, but protection does come at a price, but certainly less annoying than some earlier versions on Norton software.
All well and good and probably a four star product. But...
... here's the thing. Norton software has rendered my PCs unusable in the past. Their tech support guys have been useless and I have spent days trying to get things straight again. Other reviews for THIS specific product show that it occasionally fouls up too.
So although this product has been fine in the month I have had it, I retain a natural aversion to everything Norton. Four stars for this product, as I have experienced it on my PC, less one for being the yellow peril.
Full protection but make sure your PC are up to spec July 17, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been using Norton for quite some time now from Antivirus, Firewall to Internet Security. Norton 360 gives comprehensive protection to your computer but make sure your PC is up to specs. My PC is only about 3 years old and slows considerably at times running Norton in the background. All in all good protection but at a cost.
