Problems running this? November 22, 2008 Vista is the current format and it does not work with this product- ended up buying Rescue Your Videotapes and it did work! - just hassle buying and changing a product. At least its sorted out and it would have saved me time if I had known from the start. Anyway just check your operating sytem before purchase.
xbox? get something else October 13, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
My son is making an XBox 360 video for You Tube. Many similar videos referenced Dazzle so he bought one. Our PC is much more than adequate as I use it for composing music so sound card /graphics etc - - all high spec. Dazzle is most definitely not the right product. Check out the other reviews. When I looked on You Tube - - they're all Americans who referenced Dazzle. Get something else.
Does the job but requires careful setting up September 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'd been thinking of getting one of these for an age but everyone's polarised reviews put me off completely. Then a few weeks ago I took the plunge as I needed it for a business venture as well as recording myself playing games.
All the dazzles appear to be the same device with different software so it doesn't matter too much which one you get - its more down the cables you buy in addition to your dazzle (they sadly don't tell you that when you buy it that you need more cables) which seems to effect the quality.
Depending on what cables you use (generally a double ended RCA cable and 3 Y Splitter AV cables [1 male to 2 female]) depends on how much lag you get. You can plug in camcorders and your TV and literally press "Start Capture" and it will record but if your recording yourself playing games you cannot just connect your console as there is about a seconds delay before you see what's happening on your PC. That's where the additional cables come in.
The software that's bundled with it is great if your looking to go into great detail with video editing but if not, you can use the Dazzle with Windows Movie Maker and the end result is fine.
What the Dazzle does is great (and if you want 60FPS there's a patch I believe) but just remember to set it up properly for what your using it for.
High hopes.. dashed September 12, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this hoping it would do the job; fitted it up to my new PC after installing the software - no video preview. Can see video in other apps, but not Pinnacle Studio which came with it. And when I try to grab video, computer locks. I should have known better. That's 50 I'll never see again. If you buy one, I hope you have better luck than me.
A mixed bag September 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It has taken over a week to get the software and hardware up and running - eventually having to install it in safe mode - unplugging all external USB devices - and cleaning up a LOT of software issues, registry entries etc.
Studio 11 is actually a brilliant piece of software for what i need - transferring VHS home vids to DVD - however even though it now works it still takes over 3 hours to load due to some conflict that i cannot trace.
So when it works its great and does a really good job - however it can be a nightmare to get to the stage of it working.
