 Great refresher. September 3, 2008

This CD is great, and not just for those who are yet to take their test.
It is a great refresher for anyone who may have passed their test many years ago, or for those that have passed, but still feel they need to know their road signs and highway code better.
This CD would also be great for those that feel their driving ability may not be quite what it should due to aging or ill health.
The CD has the theory test,
Hazard perception test,
Road sign test.
practical test and safe driver test.
It also contains the latest official highway code,
also a video of the latest mock driving test,
and a printable theory test book.
I believe every driver, or future driver, can gain some knowledge or insight from this CD, and throughly recommend it.

When installing this I got a couple of errors that were not fixed by clicking "retry" so I clicked "ignore" and it still seemed to work ok.
There is a lot of stuff on here to help you learn such as sign tests, hazard perception, theory tests, highway code, a video of practical tests and some other features that don't add much (such as a psychometric test that tells you when it thinks you're guessing questions to get it right, mmmm, a mind reading computer!)
I found several software bugs that should've easily been fund prior to releasing this version. For example, the hazard perception video plays fine, but when reviewing your results it is upside down! When entering your "candidate information" in preparation for a theory test, pressing TAB to navigate fields is all wrong. I'd expect pressing TAB after entering forename would move to Surname, but it jumps down to the bottom of the screen to today's date. I would also have expected some buttons at the end of certain sections that would take you back the main menu, but there aren't any, you need to use the bar along the left, which doesn't make it obvious it is actually clickable.
Don't be disheartened if your hazard results disappoint. For example, in one of the videos a man standing in the road by his van on your side of the road (with an open sliding door) is NOT a hazard according to this software. In my book he could (1) step into your path or (2) a colleague could jump out the door into your path. These are hazards in my view but the software doesn't seem to think so.
Overall this software does have a lot going for it as there is a lot of material. It will certainly prepare you for your exams.

First things first I have been driving for over 35 years so I am experienced, but I thought that if I reviewed the programme myself I could give a bit of a biased view so I volunteered my 16 year old, soon to learn to drive, daughter to review the software with me.
Driving Test Success was very easy to set up. Just put the DVD in the drive, and follow the installation instructions and away you go, just the way it should be and it was up and running within 10 minutes.
This product allows multiple users, so not just one person can use it, as you can set up lots of different accounts and usernames. I am 16 and new to driving I appreciated this DVD as it went from the very start of the driving process to the the test scenario. I have been using Driving Test Success for about a week now and I am really enjoying it. I have learnt lots and it is great to enjoy learning to drive at your own pace on your computer with no mega high driving instructor fees!!!
In the Driving Test Success there is the Theory Test, Hazard Perception Test and the Practical Test. In the Hazard Perception test you view a scenario and click your mouse when you perceive there is a hazard. Brilliant as the programme shows you where you when wrong in the test. This helps when you do the test again you can do much better and hopefully get full marks.
In the Theory Test, if you chose the wrong answers it will tell you and you can try to get the right answers again. If you do not understand why you where wrong it will give an explanation. Also on this PC DVD there is a feature called "learn on the go", this is where you can download some questions on to you Ipod or MP3 player. On the Ipod or MP3 player you hear someone ask you a question and give you time to think about the answer and then it will tell you what the answer is.
Other parts in the PC DVD contain a practical test where you can complete a mock driving test. At the end of this test it will advise you if you are ready to put in for your driving test and theory test and if you not, well they will tell you! In this practical test you will get an idea of what the examiner is looking for and what they will mark you on.
All in all educational and fun. Worth the cover price and essential for new drivers!

This DVD Rom has all the answers and, more importantly, all the questions needed to pass the UK Driving Test. It is a very reasonably priced package featuring an informative sleeve and the DVD Rom itself; there is no booklet or other printed information - everything is screen based. Most people these days are familiar with Computer Based Training and will find the presentation of this material pretty user friendly and intuitive. Although most users will probably be young anyone taking their test later in life will also find this programme fairly easy to master.
Some of the content, such as the latest edition of the Highway Code, is printable should a hard copy be required for studying. Also, some of the content can be transferred onto portable devices, such as iPods or mobile phones, for learning on the go. All aspects of the Driving Test are covered, Theory, Hazard Perception and Practical both for car drivers and motorcyclists.
It is fully up-to-date containing the very latest official DSA theory test question bank which can be printed out if required for revising away from the computer. It is the UKs best selling programme of its type, having sold 2.3 million copies in previous editions. Updates are also made available online.
There is a very comprehensive Product Description provided by Amazon which is well worth reading as it gives full information about what the package contains. Although it won't replace driving lessons this product will provide a very useful companion to anyone just starting out on what will hopefully be a lifetime of safe driving.
