5 out of 5 stars Picoo Z Helicopter   January 3, 2008

I got this from my wife as a Christmas present. I can't stop playing with it. It is so light and easy to control. The controls take some getting use to, but once mastered it is no problem. My two girls like watching flying low over there heads. I would highley recommend this as a gift.

Bought one for my nephew (aged 7) for Christmas. Was a little worried as he's not the gentlest child in the world: need not have worried. Even thought the helicopter is quiet small and very light, 17cm and 10gms, it survived crashing into walls, floors, people, just about everything really. He had it charged and flying round the room in no time and while I thought the novelty would wear off quickly, he went from speed flying aimlessly to trying to manoeuvre and land and take of with precision - so might have more longevity than I first thought.

Comes with internal Lithium Polymer battery that provides flights of up to 10 minutes between charges, but 6 AA batteries are needed for infra red control. Charging normally takes approx 25mins for full recharge.

Would recommend this as an unusually toy for kids and possibly even as an educational one as my nephew has already started asking "why does it fly, it was no wings", "how does it go forward it has no engine

5 out of 5 stars Become an expert pilot of this toy...   January 2, 2008

Some quick advice to people that have given this excellent toy a poor review.

Take a small safety pin and stick it to the nose of the helicopter with some selotape.

This will improve performance and fly-ability dramatically. Why? The controls for this toy only move it up and down and turn it left and right. Unlike a real helicopter there is no lateral control of the rotor blades (it's a toy, remember;-), you can achieve forward momentum by tilting the helicopters nose down with the extra weight. (The small sticky tin foil weights that come with the toy are a big clue, but aren't really heavy enough).

If you don't believe me try launching the toy from your hand (tilted forward) on full throttle, it will fly across the room with improved manoeuvrability until it looses momentum (that's why you need to weight the nose).

Happy flying pilots!

I bought my rc heli at Debenhams in Bolton for 25, and as other reviewers have said, it is hard to handle straight away, you have to persevere, but now I can manage to fly and hover around the room, thats after bringing down the xmas trimmings, very sturdy construction, by the way I`m 60 years of age but age is nothing but a number, love it.

I brought one of these as a Christmas present for my dad (you're never too old to enjoy one of these!) and we are both impressed with it. As soon as you get used to it, flying it is a doddle and fun. I cracked one of the main rotor blades (oops!) but it's been fixed with some sellotape and spares are available to buy, so a tip to anyone flying one of these; As soon as you loose control and know the helicopters going to crash, let go of the accelerator control because that's how the rotor cracked (hit the floor as it was spinning)

Overall great fun, and well worth the money!
