5 out of 5 stars Hollywood at its finest   October 28, 2001

This film is a classic and still is as great today as it was then. Glorious technicolour, beautiful scenery, a luminously beautiful Vivien Leigh, a completely swoonsome Clark Gable and Oscar-winning performances all-round. 'Gone With The Wind' is just the best.

5 out of 5 stars After all, tomorrow is another day!!!   June 20, 2001

From the opening credits through to the final heartstring tugging moments this is a totally fabulous film. You'll be swept away by the glorious technicolour,in awe at the size of Vivienne Leigh's waist and treat to a whole host of classic lines including "Fiddledee dee Ashley" "Frankly my dear I dont give a damn" etc etc.

Gone with the Wind is set against the backdrop of the American Cvil War and is the story of young Scarlett O'Hara's fight to keep Tara, her home and her passionate relationship with Rhet Butler, lounge lizard and wealthy snake in the grass (Clark Gable)

The film may seem nearly as long as the war itself but its a must for all movie fans. Its been said before and I'll say it again THEY DONT MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANY MORE!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Romance   December 24, 2000

This 1939 production of Margaret Mitchells 1936 novel, 'Gone with the Wind',is a seriously good classic. Set in the backdrop of the American civil war, it combines a good cast of the dashing Clark Gable as Rhett Butler and the beautiful Vivian Leigh as Scarlet O'Hara who partake in this romance of all time. This is a quality colour film with excellent acting. This film does not disappoint those who have read the novel and it also enchants those who have not read the novel.

5 out of 5 stars What a film!   March 7, 2000

No need here I guess to give you a summary of the story: who doesn't know yet Rhett and Scarlett?

Being born the seventies myself I never had the chance to see this picture on the big screen - but it doesn't take anything away from the awesome film it is.

Indeed I guess it has been the first ever film featuring a strong woman - and not in every role: a leading strong woman who fights, cheats, uses men to her own benefit. My, what a Lady!

Of course Hollywood of the Thirties had to have her lose her humanity, friends and her loved husband in the end: but all this is only conventions. What remains is one of the most spell-binding film ever. A plot that gets you whirling in the history of the USA: Believe me, a true Masterpiece!
