5 out of 5 stars Let's be honest...   May 31, 2006
I love this film. But let's be honest, it's rubbish. If you want to watch real manga films, break out the classics like Akira or Fist of the North Star. SF2:TAM is great fun, but let's not try and pretend it's beautiful manga, or that the fight scenes are anything but OK compared to some other films. Half the characters are underused (Blanka, Dhalsim and Zangief barely get a mention). And Ryu is a bit of a loser.
That said, if you grew up playing the game on the SNES, have pizza, lager and some mates round, it can't be beaten. And you get to see Chun Li naked...

5 out of 5 stars Street Fighter 2 = Great Manga   December 7, 2005
I first watched this film when it was released on VHS and now it is on DVD it holds a special place in my collection. The fight scenes are fast paced, violent and bloody yet absolutely breathtaking. It is beautifully animated and the thought behind each charactor offers every street fighter fan an insight into the reasons for their combat. The two fights that stand out are the opening battle between Ryu and Sagat, which is visually stunning and the epic struggle of Chun Li against Vega, which upon the sight of Vega, sends a chill down your spine. This is a must buy for any manga, S.F.2. or fight fan anywhere.

4 out of 5 stars Street Fighter 2 - The Movie   May 12, 2004

This is an excellent example of high quality, exciting manga action. The fight scenes are fast, well done and fun to watch. The overall quality of the animation is very good, and the dubbing isn't bad either. Perhaps some of the fights were thrown in just to show off some more Street Fighter characters, but I'm not complaning. My only gripes are that the plot can drift off into nowhere at times, and the final battle left me thinking it was a little anti-climactic.
However, these are minor gripes and I throughly recommened you buy this great piece of manga film-making!

5 out of 5 stars Never seen Manga before?   May 30, 2002

This was the film that introduced me to the frighteningly addictive world that is Manga. I'd never heard of it before, but I was already a fan of the Street Fighter 2 games. So when I saw the film, I thought I might as well buy it.

And I wasn't disappointed. Every second of this film is packed with action that never lets up, and the art and fight scenes are truly staggering (watch out, especially, for the spectacular fight between Chun Li and Vega, which is by far the best in the film).

If you have never seen a Manga before, then this is the video for you - it's fairly mainstream, not delving too far into the rather disturbing elements that are the pinnacle of some other Manga's (like Akira or 3 x 3 Eyes), and is nothing, if not completely enjoyable and far superior to its Hollywood counterpart!

This is the best anime film ever! The fighting is superb from Ruy and Sagat to Chun li and Vega. You get to see all the special moves and all the charecters from the film make an apperance. If there was a sequel then i'd buy it. You can't go wrong with this. Even the soundtrack is the best with kmfmd,koRn,silverchair and alice in chains.2 words to sum up this film? buy it.
