WONDERFUL March 13, 2003 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
A wonderful film with wonderful acting and a wonderful story, it is one of those films that has such a profound meaning that it is hard to describe what a joy it is to watch, four lonely women who are all opposites in character and lifestiles take a trip to Italy to get away from the unhapy lives they lead in London, what they find in the Italian sunshine is as much of a surprise to the viewer as it is to the characters ... nothing i can say will prepare you for this wonderful story, watch it ... it's a must !
GLORIOUS PEACEFUL SUNDAY AFTERNOON VIEWING December 30, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The film exudes a peacefulness, perfect for a Sunday afternoon viewing. Some of our best British actors amongst glorious shots of Tuscany, you can feel the heat. It makes you feeling calm, happy and maybe leaving you with a few more dreams to fulfill. If you like a Room with A View & A Passage to India this is really worth watching.
Bliss! March 20, 2002 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Winter has dragged on far too long...Sit back by the fire in a comfortable chair and warm your toes and thoughts with a magical trip to a mystical villa in Italy. What a wonderful way to boost your spirits and rethink your attitudes about the sharing the world with other people. Enchanted April is timeless and simply a wonderful escape from our daily reality!
An uplifting, challenging film set in perfect scenary. October 3, 2000 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This movie is a period piece absolutely! The characters are the main joy, four diverse women, thrown together by chance in a glorious Italian Villa. The parts are played superbly and you begin to forget these actors are acting, or have acted in anything else (except Jim Broadbent, whose dreadful dolcit tones are designed to rub you up the wrong way).It has everything. It could make you weep and laugh, and it does. All the four main characters cannot be praised enough for their performances, it's perfect. The script is fitting and lovely, that word describes the whole film. It is lovely, reminding you of a happier age. Don't analize it, be happy.
A movie full of joy which you will want to watch over & over August 16, 2000 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Enchanted April is a celebration of life amidst its troubles. One can learn to find humor and hope in all of life's tribulations. This is a movie which one needs to watch several times especially at down times when hope is waning. The scenery is pleasant. The acting is un-noticed, that is, the actors become the characters and you forget that you are observing a drama. You can live this story with the characters.
