5 out of 5 stars You'll never throw away another Toy!   September 30, 2002

Disney have improved on Toy Story, which is a huge achievement.
It is great for Kids on a Kid level but it has so much to offer to adults too.
The original film explored the idea that Toys come to life when their owners are not around and that they exist as mini-guardians to their children. Toy Story 2 obviously continues the theme but also explores new territory. The big question is TS2 is "what happens to a toy when its child owner grows up". The original characters return for more of the same sharp humour and jokes that work on Child and Adult level.
When Cowboy Woody is captured by an unscrupulous Toy Collector he learns that he is in fact a valuable Toy and missing piece of a collection. He is flattered and is torn between his new life as a celebrity Toy and his old life as his owner Andys favorite.
While all this is going on, Space Ranger Buzz and the gang are mounting a hilarious rescue mission for Woody which is laugh out loud funny.
Meanwhile Woody meets Cowgirl Jessie, part of the Toy collection and learns of how she became part of the soon-to-be Museum Collection. Jessie sings "When she loved me" and the story is told in flashback, charting the relationship between Jessie and her beloved owner and how gradually she was outgrown. It really is a heartbreaking couple of minutes and if you arent moved by it, check your pulse. What could have been sentimental and maudlin is beautifully judged and more effecting than an animated film should be!
From here the story moves to Woody and Jessie, with the assistance of Bullseye the horse making their escape and returning to Andy and where they feel they belong.
This is a perfect film that is a joy from start to finish.
A word of warning. Once you have seen this, you will never throw away another Toy, because as I now know, they have feelings too.

5 out of 5 stars Toys filled with Joys   November 29, 2001

Toy Story was the first ever completely computer animated movie. Aimed at children, though fine for adults, Toy Story is one of my son's fvourite films , and he's 13. He has loved it since he saw it the cinema. It is one of the most creative movies I have seen and love the story. If you like this movie , I advise Shrek and Toy Story 2.

5 out of 5 stars The best thing since sliced bread!!!   February 19, 2001

The first films to be 100% digital in filming history and what a treat they are. The voice skills of Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear add to the unforgettable Toy Story films, a must for anyone of all ages. Worth every penny and the added bonus of the making of Toy Story along with the other treats on the DVD's you'd be mad not to buy it!!!

5 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT FILMS - BRILLIANT BOXSET   January 2, 2001

What a great boxset - almost perfect even! Two of the best animated films of all time plus an extras disc. Wow! The first film is extremely good, highly entertaining, awe inspiring and funny on all levels that appeal to both children and adults. The second is the same but bigger and better with a superb storyline. And the extras disc is also awesome, over nine hours worth of fun in a whole boxset. Check out the "deleted animation" section - great, especially the computer glitches area where Buzz Lightyear's legs and eyes are in the wrong place! Hilarious! This DVD package would be perfect if there were commentaries on the films and I was highly disappointed in not finding any! Apart from that - buy it for you, for the kids, for the whole family.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent viewing for children and adults alike   December 8, 2000

A very funny and entertaining set of films, your children will want to watch them again and again and so will the adults. There are a lot of funny innuendoes that the children won't pick up on but the adults will appreciate. I defiantly recommend this for viewing
