A common enough question when out on a walk. Here are birds identified by asking yourself what's it like? What size is it? Is it likely to be here and at this time of year? Is the colour shape or behaviour like something I know?
The casual or family walker interested enough to spend a few minutes leafing through will find herein a valuable resource for even a bad birdwatcher.

As a new birdwatcher I found this book well written and very informative, it is easy to read and understand without too many techinical details and jargon to be off putting to the novice but it encourages the reader to learn more. The illustrations and diagrams are excellent. Details of display, feeding, breeding behaviour, and habitat are invaluable. A must have book for all ages and experience giving insight to the private world of our feathered friends.
