A Must Read at Bedtime Book September 16, 2007 I bought this book when we started to read my daughter her bedtime story. Now it is the nighttime ritual. She won't go to bed without it being read first and knows it off by heart. The best bit is the end - any dad who reads this to their kids and doesn't get a lump in their throats at the end isn't human! A must have book for parents with young children
Great for fathers March 14, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I got this book for fathers day from my over sentimental wife, sorry son, it is great. I remember thinking that my dad was as big as a house and that must be how my young chap sees me ( though I do admit I have gained a few pounds round the middle which won't help!). The writing is simple and has lots of repetition which is just what young children need to help them on the ladder of learning to read. the pictures are fun and enhance the story without taking it over completely. A great book. I like, my son likes it. I can't ask for more. one thing though as the story is told from the point of view of a young boy (as shown on the last picture) it will not be quite as relevant for young girls.

Beautiful, heartwarming book from Anthony Browne. Touching, funny, and guaranteed to make dads feel good about themselves when shared with a small child. The illustrations alone, are worth the price of the book. The ultimate feelgood reading experience.
In praise of Dads March 5, 2005 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Dads get their worth acknowledged here. Fabulous book which is beautifully illustrated. Our son loves it and goes very silly when it reaches the end where the narrator (a small boy) talks about how much he loves his Dad and how much his Dad loves him. The Dad in our house always gets a big hug at the end of this one.
Terrific for Tots! January 28, 2004 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is a beautifully illustrated book, and the top favorite of my 15 month old son! It's easy to read aloud because it flows in a lovely sing-song manner, and each page has subtle new surprises hidden in the illustrations so story time doesn't get boring fo adults.
